Jim Harbach - Owner & Operator/GM
J's Auto's owner & operator, Jim Harbach, has always lived locally, and grew up on a farm as the youngest of 8 siblings, between the towns of Delhi & Manchester. When Jim opened J's Auto in 1986 at age 24, it was as a very small service & body shop. He started the business as a body and service repairman himself, and eventually began dabbling in vehicle sales. In the 1980s, Jim had began to see why so many of the used car dealerships had earned such a bad reputation, and he was determined to provide people a real, sincere & honest buying experience like they deserved, one that he would want as a customer. Many local folks will tell you they still remember back when there were only three cars on that tiny lot and how Jim would come out to help you himself, covered in paint or engine grease or both. Eventually, and before the luxury of the now widely used world wide web, he began to travel to acquire vehicles, while still simultaneously maintaining his position as the head body man and shop manager, and taking care of his family, including then four young daughters. In 1992, Jim expanded J's Auto to support a slightly larger Sales aspect, with a 1000 square foot lot, 20 used vehicles, and the addition of 2 more employees. By 2002, Jim's continued hard work and success allowed J's Auto to undergo a much greater expansion, and to add a larger full service shop, detail, body, paint, and sales department, with over 7500 square feet, an inventory of 100-150 vehicles, and 12 employees. Today, J's Auto offers 170+ vehicles and continues to grow in number of employees. Jim was very excited to announce that J's Auto would be making a huge change, and constructing a much larger facility for sales, service, and detail in 2016. Now in spring of 2017, Jim and the J's Auto team strive to offer that same great service and commitment to customers that they always have at the new location. Throughout these years in business, Jim and J's Auto have won numerous awards, including for the Iowa Independent Auto Dealer of the Year from IIADA, for both quality vehicles and quality customer service, and ASC Quality Dealer award winner seven times over. J's Auto is a member of both the IIADA and NIADA, is proud to be accredited by the Better Business Bureau, and to participate as a local Chamber Member, regularly donating both time & money back to the local community, including to area schools and various other local businesses & organizations.
Despite his success, Jim Harbach is still just your regular guy, committed to providing the vehicle experience he would want for himself or his own family. In the course of his business, he remains involved in almost every aspect at every level, and you can still find him doing jobs like detailing cars himself--he just does what needs to get done. He is extremely loyal and dedicated to the people in his life, from his family to his friends, down to his very last customer. He is stretched incredibly thin, but Jim does manage to take time for his family and for himself, and has a love for hunting and the outdoors, hobby farming, small woodworking projects, and just spending time with the people in his life.

Kala Schnittjer(Harbach) - Business Office Manager

In her 10+ years with the family business, Kala quickly earned herself the reputation as our in-house “jack of all trades”. Her background includes a multitude of computer courses from Iowa Wesleyan College, business and accounting coursework from NICC, as well as certification thru the Iowa Insurance Division, allowing her to assist with all of the functions of F&I. Her contributions continue to include everything from reception, billing, invoices, & accounting, to finance, titles, and supply management. She says she loves working within the small, family owned business capacity, and the long term relationships it has allowed her to build with our customers. Kala also receives a great deal of praise from our service and sales customers alike, as a helpful & well liked representative of J’s Auto. Her well-rounded scope of expertise makes her a very essential & key player in our daily operations. When not at work, Kala enjoys camping and kayaking with her family, being her daughters girl scout troop leader, and also has a flare and passion for all things zombie and halloween.

As one of our most experienced employees, Scott has over 30 years of experience, and is proud to be second generation in automotive sales. His experience includes 17 years with a new car dealer and 15+ years here at J’s Auto. He values his customer’s time, and his large customer base appreciates that he is a no-nonsense, straight-to-the-point kind of guy. Scott says he enjoys working with the public and that every day is new and different. Outside of work, Scott is a very devoted father of 3 and a serious Corvette enthusiast.

Countless times we have received customer feedback that Earl is “just a really nice guy”. I think all co-workers are also in agreement with that statement! With a loyal local following and all 10+ years of his sales experience here with us at J’s Auto, Earl’s goals are a reflection of what we really stand for here at J’s Auto. As a classic car enthusiast himself (and owner of very cool Chevelle SS), he really enjoys that he can sell quality pre-owned vehicles while meeting new people, but most of all he works hard to reclaim positive public opinion on what the public believes a typical “used car salesman” is like. Not only is Earl a very hardworking member of J’s Auto’s Sales staff, he is a proud family man, and he is also very skilled at upholstery work, owning his own upholstery business for 27 years, and even does upholstery repairs and replacement to order for J’s Auto customers.

Jeff has been an incredible asset to J’s Auto for over 12 years. He graduated from Wyoming Tech, reputed the best technical institution in the nation, and also participates in continued education courses in order to stay up to speed with the latest automotive innovations. Jeff grew up in Manchester, and comes from a large, reputable & well liked family in the area. When he’s not running crazy performing his managerial duties, you can find him working right with his service crew. He is extremely hardworking & trustworthy, and, no matter how busy he is, he still takes the time to speak with his customers and answer any questions they might have. For our service customers, Jeff is the face of J’s Auto, and one both we and our customers are very grateful to have. Jeff says he enjoys the tight-knit sense of community he gets working at J’s Auto, from the long lasting relationships built with customers, to those with his co-workers & subcontractors. When he’s not working, Jeff also farms & has even been featured in Good Guys magazine for his love of classic automotive restoration.

Nicole McGreevy(Harbach) - Internet Marketing Manager
The oldest of Jim's 4 daughters, Nicole eagerly helped with the family business from a very young age. She graduated from Cornell College in 2005, with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology and, after working almost 7 years in biochemistry, decided on a career change away from the bio-tech industry to pursue more entrepreneurial goals. Now, with several years of sales experience and an emphasis on internet communications, Nicole plays a consistent role in advertising & marketing here at J’s Auto, ensuring the very vital presence of various advertising media, including management of our website and other online inventory outlets and much more, in order to help continue our commitment to customer service & satisfaction through easy to access, transparent advertising & marketing platforms. Though her work is mostly behind the scenes, she strives to provide the most customer-friendly website & social media outlets, and, as her scientific background dictates, Nicole says she loves performing the market research and continuing education on such a dynamic industry, and to use that information to improve the customer’s experience with J’s Auto from start to finish. Outside of work, Nicole enjoys reading and research on psychology, nutrition & holistic health, all things DIY, living simply and off the land( wannabe hippy), and just being a wife and mom.
